#1 album of 2007. "Turn My Teeth Up!" details loosely the quest of Newkirk and Prince Paul to learn the meaning of the Funk from guru/mystic Bernie Worrell, the "Jimi Hendrix of keyboards," formerly of Parliament-Funkadelic and the Talking Heads. The album stalls a little bit on tracks like "Cool Runnings" and "If You Don't Wanna Dance," but the transcendent psych-hop groove on songs like "Even Stranger," "How Does The Brain Wave" and "Baby Elephants-n-Thangs" is totally unfuckwithable. Featuring appearances from figures like George Clinton, David Byrne and Nona Hendryx.
"Oh, I get it now, Master Bernie, it's inside!"
"That's right, sucker. Funk transcends all styles."
