Last year's debut album by this overwhelmingly cold, dark black metal band from Norway is basically what you would expect from hearing their earlier releases (download one of their 2006 demos here). The first half of this album is oriented around Horror, and the second half, apparently, deals with "an ancient astrological code," according to the band. Dunno, sounds like pretty tight black metal to me though. Newly released deluxe vinyl package is available from the band's site, you can also order the normal CD from blackscaped. The next album, which sounds ambitious and ridiculous, should be out before the end of the year.
Skrekk Lich Kunstler (2007)
What they're saying so far about the next one:
"Von Rov Shelter" (Norwegian for the lair of the wild beast) will represent the rawness and the origin of human nature and how it all fits into a larger, spiritual perspective. In order to do this, someone from outside the band will be contributing lyrics. Someone whose perspective is quite unique.
Musically it will definitely be the trademark SLAGMAUR sound that has been creating so much interest on the music scene. The layer, upon layer of disturbing, eerie sounds and melodies will still be there, but this time the overall production and the quality of the writing will far surpass what has gone before. The General has been putting in a lot of work laying down the foundations with the guitar riffs, and instead of using the classical orchestra that he used on "Skrekk Lich Kunstler", intends to use voices from a local choir.
